i walk into slip-ons when i run out to grab firewood. haven't pulled on boots yet for this snow-fall. (it's only 2 inches, after all.)

No. I don't know that sound... ;-)

I've been only once in a place with snow and it was already melting. So, it was looking more like ice than snow.

for me 8C is cold enough, and I've just looked it up and found it translates into 46F, which I suppose is t-shirt weather for you guys :)

yeah. 46F isn't bad.

we had a cold spell in detroit once that lasted so long that when the temperatures finally made it up to 30F i rolled down the car window and reveled in the warmth.

the nice thing about winters in colorado is that though we get cold and snow, we don't get much slush or black snow. it's kinda all the best parts of winter without the crud. ditto goes for summers. even when it's 90 or so out, you don't feel it nearly as much as you do on the east coast where there's high humidity.

my grandparents lived in an ocean-side condo in daytona beach shores for a long time and i swear that every time we asked them the temperature, they said it was 80. it became a family joke that florida was always 80 degrees.
