for everyone
Rogerio posted this, this morning (with Portuguese subtitles) and I thought it was excellent. (It's similar to "The Last Lecture".)

Ironically, it struck me that his 3 main points jived quite a bit with what we've been studying in our gals' Bible study. (We're reading through the book Peacemaking Women -- which isn't a traditional Bible study by any means, but it's still full of Scripture and is absolutely fantastic in terms of learning to love and forgive others.) I'm hoping, at some point, to tie Steve's thoughts to Tara and Judy's (perhaps on dandelion wine) and if I do I'll post a link here.

Yes, I saw this one the other day and liked it - it's a perfect speech, just what you want to hear at that time in your life.

Wow, I had no idea he was adopted. It's amazing that he has been the CEO of two of the most successful companies in the world.

i've started a somewhat lengthy post on my thoughts on his speech, btw. just haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. *sigh*

yeah, i think i'd heard that he was adopted, but promptly forgot. that's an especially cool part of his story. it's very clear that he identifies well with his adoptive parents. there's no sense of second guessing in his manner that i sometimes hear underlying other adoptees words.

just posted this.

Objective, Absolute, and Universal Truth

how's that for a title? ;-)

The content of Steve Jobs' speech was very thoughtful and interesting. He seems to have followed his own advice about living each day as if it were his last. So far his life has been amazing. I'm sure the rest of it will be, too, right up to, and including, his last day.

Well, good but self aggrandizing and a bit long winded - to sum up, do what you love and you won't regret it. Heard it a million times (and agree), time for a new commencement speech.

I'm not sure I agree with "stay hungry, stay foolish". We all need to grow up at some point and look reality in the face and deal with it maturely. But I agree with the follow your dreams part.

you could try looking for this same video on youtube. that's where i pulled it from originally. i'm not sure how downloading from youtube works, though. you might also find the video on stanford's website.

Wow, thanks for this. It's strange to imagine how different our lives would be if Steve's mother hadn't gone through with her pregnancy. Apple has made our lives so much better. I still remember my old Apple II and first Macintosh. Thanks to Steve, Steve's Mother, and Steve's adoptive parents.
