This video is by Inspired Bicycles. It is not kid safe. It'll just fill their little heads with crazy, insane ideas that'll help them win the Darwin award before this guy (Danny MacAskill) does. (Hmmm, interesting last name. Wonder if that's his biker handle. It fits.)
That said, it's pretty incredible to watch this guy in action. About as incredible, in fact, as watching the Crocodile Hunter lovingly stroke a 10 foot long boa constrictor (and look where that kind of lifestyle got him).
Click on. It's worth the watch. Just don't try this at home.
Oooh, some things outta be outlawed for kids! Did you notice that there is no seat on that bike (at least none that I could see...) Denise (Don's and Lois's Friend)
Wow. He is incredible. Thanks for sharing it. All of Erics buddies from college are leaving to mountainbike in Moab this weekend so I sent to them for inspiration. They all used to ride their bikes around campus like that but.. not quite that extreme. Everything has gotten extreme these days. What is up with that?
when you dance, it does't usually involve being poised over a row of sharp spiky things on a contraption that could lose the air in its tires and suddenly drop you like a rock.
on the other hand, he must have an amazing sense of where his bike is at all times. he gets that back tire smack on stuff that i might not be able to hit just by jumping onto it with my feet. that bit is brilliant.
when plain old ironing just doesn't cut it any more -- make it extreme!
we probably like things to be extreme for the same reason we like things to be super-sized. only, the part of the population that doesn't mind gaining weight will go the super-sized route and the part that prefers maintaining a reasonable figure will go towards the extreme events. better yet, perhaps the well rounded american would order the super-sized drink and food While Watching extreme sports on tv. *starts to get all vaklempt and starts to sing, "i'm proud to be an americaaaaaan!"*
*splutter* i am So glad i had just swallowed my milk before reading your reply.
Haha. You know what I mean. I can stop without falling over, but I can't keep the bike stationary with me in the pedals without needing to wiggle for balance or else put a foot down to stay upright.
The true Darwin Award candidates are the parkour enthusiasts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEeqHj3Nj2c I know of one guy who offed himself after a failed attempt to jump in between two buildings. He might have made it if he hadn't been drinking.
wow! i applaud all they're trying to do to help thin out the human race a little. those that survive, however, are going to have awful joint problems later in life.
i think things like this are a great example of how safe and comfortable our lives have gotten. 2000 years ago this is what the shepherds would be practicing out in the fields. but it wouldn't be just to be cool. it would be so they could grab several sheep in a moment of danger and haul them over crags to safety from bears or lions or something.
"mommy, how did daddy die again?" "well he was rescuing grandfather's sheep from a ravaging mountain lion" sounds so much better than "well, he went out to play with his friends and died when he missed the handrailing and fell into the subway."
Great Control & Balance I have To say. Very daring and reckless though.. Good Luck with further adventures, Remind me not to bring you a new Bike for Christmas.. Cheers !

This is a response to desniselesndak:
People with ideas like that are exactly kind of people kids dislike. Where I live skateboarding is illegal, why? because people feared for their kids' safety. Yes. These things can be dangerous, but you won't see normal kids attempting 15 foot drops-ins. The other problem is the wrong people trying to stop them. You don't have any right stopping your neighbor from repainting his house, and you also have no right to restrict his son/daughter from biking. Set a family law for your kid, not everyone else's
This is a great video! A young man who is out there showing persistence to achieve his goals, engaging in drug and alcohol-free physical activity in the outdoors and responsibly repairing or replacing any damage he might do...I can only wish my children emulate this great role model instead of "safely" sitting on the sidelines watching life pass them by as so many children do today, coddled into submissive bubbles of over-protectionism.
I have seen this vid many times on other sites (usually sites that have people doing things with there time) and the comments are anywhere from awesome to I wish I could do that, not Oh people should not do things like this- they might get hurt. Wahhh. I forgot there is still people like you out there that lead lame -boring lives that won't let their little precious Johnny go down the drive without a helmet and pads. Maybe you should try it.out
